We flew with Turkish Airlines, flight TK1979, from Istanbul to London, Heathrow Airport. Turkish Airlines flight TK1979 This was a flight from Indonesia back to the UK with an Istanbul connection. The flight takes off from Istanbul at 8:45 am and arrives at London, Heathrow Airport at around 9:30 am. The journey time is just over four hours, but the actual flight time was around three hours. Flight history of Turkish Airlines flight TK1979 The recent flight history shows that the flight was generally on time, but there were days when it arrived two hours late. As the flight was bound for the UK, security checks at Istanbul airport were somewhat strict and there were scenes of personal belongings and body checks at the boarding gate. Boarding Turkish Airlines flight TK1979 Our flight started boarding a little later than scheduled. The seats are arranged in rows by 3 rows. We flew with Turkish Airlines, flight TK509 from Jakarta to Istanbul. The flight takes off from Jakarta at 9:50am and arrives in Istanbul at 6:25pm, a flight time of 12 hours 35 minutes. Turkish Airlines flight TK509, slight delay A delay of several minutes was already reported before we arrived at the airport. Boarding was not grouped and passengers boarded by seat number, but we wondered if there was any point in separating by seat number to check their boarding passes, passengers boarded at the same time. Seats are arranged in rows of three, three and three, with enough leg space. Meals on board Turkish Airlines flight TK509 Onboard meals were served as breakfast, snacks (crackers only) and dinner. Breakfast is omelette and croquettes, mushrooms, fruit, vegetables and cheese and bread. It was a little strange that the bread was served afterwards. It was hot, though. Drinks included a variety of juices, coffee and tea, and there was also wine and Turkish beer o

Review of Heaven Premium Hotel Istanbul Airport in Turkey

Image
We had a 14-hour connection at Istanbul Airport and used this hotel. We booked through Booking.com and the price was 33.40 EUR for a double room without breakfast. Room at Heaven Premium Hotel Istanbul Airport The room is not large, but the bed is comfortable. There is underfloor heating or warm feet. Perhaps because of the thin walls, the noise from the surroundings was a little disappointing. We could hear guests laughing and saying 'Good night' to each other in the corridor at around 1 am, and the man in the next room was loudly talking on the phone for about an hour at around 3 am. TV table, chairs, electric kettle, tea set and snacks. Free drinking water in the fridge. Bottles are small. Free welcome snack. Bathroom at Heaven Premium Hotel Istanbul Airport The bathrooms are not large but adequate. Clean. There was a rain shower as well as a regular shower, and hot water came after a while. It was a bit strange tha

Review of Orchardz Hotel Bandara in Jakarta, Indonesia

The hotel was used as accommodation for connecting flights at Jakarta Airport. Rp 541 000 per night for a twin room with breakfast. Booked through Booking.com. Room at Orchards Hotel Bandara We stayed in room 811, a twin room. The room is large enough and clean. The bed was a little small, but a normal single size, we think. There is a desk, TV, chair and tea set. The electric kettle was in poor condition, perhaps broken, but it worked for a time. Two bottles of drinking water. Black tea and coffee, cream and sugar. There is also a fridge. The closet had slippers, a safe and two hangers. Bathroom at the Orchards Hotel Bandara The bathrooms were clean. There is no bathtub. The shower has hot water. Water pressure is good. Toilet paper is provided. The washbasin mirror is large. There is also a hairdryer. There is one shampoo and shower gel, one toothpaste s

Review of Vega Hotel Sorong/Vega Prime Hotel & Convention

After an extended stay in simple accommodation in Raja Ampat, we splurged a little and stayed in a four-star hotel in Sorong. Location of Vega Hotel Sorong The hotel is a short 500m walk from Sorong Airport. We stayed there on the day we arrived by fast boat from Waisai, Raja Ampat, and flew to Jakarta the next morning, so it was a very convenient location. There is an Indomaret next door. Rooms at Vega Hotel Sorong The rooms at Vega Hotel Sorong are a little old, but they are well decorated and clean. We initially booked a windowless twin room for Rp 633 000 (including breakfast), but when we complained about the noisy air conditioning, Mario, the manager, was very helpful and upgraded us to a room with a window. The upgraded room (room 522) was equipped with a fridge and safe. This is the room before the upgrade. There is a telephone, lamp and notepad by the bedside, but the electrical sockets were only for the lamp.
