Turkish Airlines flight review of flight TK509 Jakarta to Istanbul

We flew with Turkish Airlines, flight TK509 from Jakarta to Istanbul.

The flight takes off from Jakarta at 9:50am and arrives in Istanbul at 6:25pm, a flight time of 12 hours 35 minutes.

A delay of several minutes was already reported before we arrived at the airport.

Boarding was not grouped and passengers boarded by seat number, but we wondered if there was any point in separating by seat number to check their boarding passes, passengers boarded at the same time.

Seats are arranged in rows of three, three and three, with enough leg space.

Onboard meals were served as breakfast, snacks (crackers only) and dinner.
Breakfast is omelette and croquettes, mushrooms, fruit, vegetables and cheese and bread.

It was a little strange that the bread was served afterwards.It was hot, though.

Drinks included a variety of juices, coffee and tea, and there was also wine and Turkish beer on the wagon at dinner.
Bishne (sour cherry juice) is also available.

Dinner is a choice of sautéed white fish and potatoes or nasi goreng and chicken.
Bread is also served after dinner.

Red wine was served, but was slightly sweet.

Service on Turkish Airlines flight TK509


The crew on Turkish Airlines flight TK509 were friendly enough but some of them looked grumpy.
Do not expect smiles like you would expect from a South East Asian airline.

Drinks and water are not aggressively offered and it is quicker to call the crew or go looking for them and ask for them.
However, when we went to the rear pantry area, there was no one there.

The nicest thing was that eye masks and a set of slippers were distributed at your seat when you boarded.

Seat screens are multilingual.
There were not many Japanese films, but there were many well-known ones.

Panorama Backpackers review, snorkeling everyday at Bunaken Island, Indonesia.

This is the guesthouse where we always stay on Bunaken Island. There are no restaurants in the area, so basically, people stay here with three meals included. Prices are per person and may be a little higher if you are a solo traveller. There are rooms adjacent to the main house (probably from Rp 250,000), garden view bungalows, sea view bungalows and family rooms (one double bed and bunk beds), with bungalow accommodation costing around Rp 300,000-400,000 per person including three meals. We stayed over three weeks in February, May and December 2023. Rooms are simple but clean. No air conditioning, but with fan and mosquito net. Review of Vega Hotel Sorong/Vega Prime Hotel & Convention

After an extended stay in simple accommodation in Raja Ampat, we splurged a little and stayed in a four-star hotel in Sorong. Location of Vega Hotel Sorong The hotel is a short 500m walk from Sorong Airport. We stayed there on the day we arrived by fast boat from Waisai, Raja Ampat, and flew to Jakarta the next morning, so it was a very convenient location. There is an Indomaret next door. Rooms at Vega Hotel Sorong The rooms at Vega Hotel Sorong are a little old, but they are well decorated and clean. We initially booked a windowless twin room for Rp 633 000 (including breakfast), but when we complained about the noisy air conditioning, Mario, the manager, was very helpful and upgraded us to a room with a window. The upgraded room (room 522) was equipped with a fridge and safe. This is the room before the upgrade. There is a telephone, lamp and notepad by the bedside, but the electrical sockets were only for the lamp.
