Delvin Homestay Review, Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Delvin Homestay is on Kri island, Raja Ampat, Indonesia. We stayed in this homestay twice in 2023 for more than 7 days each time.

It is a simple accommodation, but we think it is the most affordable on Kri Island and Dani the owner is an honest person charging fair prices for everything.

Location of Delvin Homestay

Delvin Homestay is located on the north-west coast of Kri Island, Raja Ampat, Indonesia.

There are two types of bungalows, ones built on the beach and the others over the water.

There is a house reef where you can swim offshore and snorkel with entry from the beach.

Snorkelling and diving at Delvin Homestay

Delvin Homestay itself does not have a jetty, but there's the Soul Divers Jetty at Yenbuba Guesthouse after a 600m swim west along the house reef, and if you go east, there is the Yenkonaru Guesthouse Jetty.

The owner of Delvin Homestay, Dani, is a dive master and you can go diving by boat from here.

Prices may vary depending on where you go, but were from Rp 550,000 per person for fun diving and from Rp 100-150,000 per person for snorkelling (in December 2023 , depending on fuel prices).

Rooms of Delvin homestay

We stayed in a bungalow over the water.

The rooms are simple, with a double bed, mosquito net, fan, table, balcony and hammock.
There is no air conditioning.

Toilets and showers at Delvin Homestay

Toilets are shared.
There are two mandi rooms with toilets, one of which has a shower, but it's better not to expect it to function well.

There is no fresh water on this island and therefore no permanent settlements. Accommodation has been built specifically for travellers.

That is why the water for the mandi is not fresh water.
You will also have to use slightly salty water for showering and washing clothes.

The drinking water that is always available in the dining rooms is fresh water transported from other islands.
It is important to understand that fresh water is a precious commodity on this island.

Meals at Delvin Homestay

Accommodation prices include all three meals.
There are no restaurants on the island, so all accommodation should provide a room with three meals.

Meals are served in the homestay's dining room.
As the accommodation is located in the jungle, it is not recommended to leave food in the room as wild animals(rats) and ants are often about.

Drinking water and hot water, Indonesian-style coffee, tea and sugar are always provided.

Occasionally cappuccino is offered.

Breakfast is usually served after 7am.
Cakes, doughnuts, crepes and fried bananas.

Lunch was prepared around 12.30pm and dinner around 7.30pm.

The menu usually consists of one fish or chicken dish, vegetables, Tofu or Tempeh, eggs, fried noodles, rice and fruit.
Sometimes a whole roasted fish was served.

The meals were generally tasty and they varied from day to day.

Electricity in Delvin Homestay

Delvin Homestay has a generator that provides electricity.
The generator normally runs from sunset to sunrise, but when we stayed there, a new bungalow was being built and the generator was running frequently for the power tools used for it.

If you are a frequent user of devices, it is useful to bring a power bank.

Internet in Delvin Homestay

Delvin Homestay does not provide free WiFi.

In the bungalows over the water where we stayed, internet was available via Telkomsel mobile communication.
In bungalows built on the beach, the signal does not seem to be very good.

However, as of December 2023, Telkomsel  mobile data transmission was poorer and connection speeds were quite slow - no remote working!
