Sunrise Cafe & Bungalows, Amed in Bali, Indonesia

We stayed at this guesthouse for 10 days during a stay in Amed Beach, Bali.

Location of Sunrise Cafe & Bungalows

It is located near Jemeluk Bay on Amed Beach, one of the quieter beaches in Bali. It is about a 2.5-hour drive from Denpasar. A Grab taxi from outside the airport cost Rp 660 000.

There is a café/restaurant on the ground floor and the rooms are upstairs. The room balconies overlook Amed Beach and Jemeluk Bay.

The area was originally a small fishing village, and fishermen can be observed every day as they go out to fish and return.

Rooms of Sunrise Cafe & Bungalows

We stayed in a double room, which cost Rp 250,000 per night without breakfast and Rp 275,000 with breakfast for two.

The bed was large enough with an excellent hard mattresse and comfortable cotton sheets. The rooms were very clean.

It was equipped with a vanity table and closet, air conditioning, a fan and a side table. The balcony had benches and chairs, a round table and a drying rack.

The AC worked well.

There was also an electric fan; as it was during the rainy season in January, sometimes it was comfortable enough to use the fan without air-conditioning.

Bathroom of Sunrise Cafe & Bungalows

The bathroom had a shower, toilet, mandi and washbasin. There is no bathtub.

The shower has hot water. Water pressure was good.

Shampoo, soap, toilet paper and bath towels are provided.

Balcony

The balcony was tiled and clean.

The balcony overlooked Amed Beach and Jemeluk Bay. Facing north, we could not see the sunset, but we could see the beautiful sunrise.

Restaurant of Sunrise Cafe & Bungalows

There was a restaurant on the ground floor overlooking the beach. Many people seem to use the restaurant only.

Rp 40,000 for sautéed barracuda, stir-fried vegetables and rice. Fish was available daily.

Fish curry with vegetables and fish, Rp 40,000.

Bintang beer was well chilled. Rp 50,000 per large bottle.

Breakfast at Sunrise Cafe & Bungalows

Breakfast was included from the second day. Breakfast can be selected from the breakfast menu.

The image above shows banana pancakes. Coffee or tea is included.

Other options included toast and omelettes.

Other services

The owner's family are all friendly and speak good English. Homely atmosphere, reasonably priced.

Free Wifi was well connected indoors. However, somtimes it was a little difficult to connect on the balcony.

The area is very convenient, with restaurants, shops and bike rental shops nearby. Snorkelling with beach entry is also easy.

It is also a good base for longer stays.
